Lu_JunJun Lu received a B.S. degree in Materials Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China in 1984. In 1987, he received his M.S. degree in Material Physics (with Prof. K. H. Kuo) from the Institute of Metal Research, Academia Sinica, Shenyang, China. He came to Sweden in 1991, and started his Ph.D. study in 1993 and received his Ph.D. degree in 1998 in Inorganic Chemistry from Uppsala University, Sweden. He was employed as a researcher at Uppsala University from 1998 to 2009. Since 2009, he has been a senior researcher in the Thin Film Physics Division, Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM) at Linköping University, Linköping, Sweden. He has published more than 150 papers.

Dr. Lu’s  research interests include novel nanostructured materials, crystal structure, and the correlations between the material synthesis, crystal structure growth and materials properties. His research is aimed at exploring the formation mechanism of nanostructured materials by using analytical high resolution transmission electron microscopy as well as other analytical techniques. His current research topic is the atomic structure study of MXene phases. In addition, he also works on other material systems such as MAX phases, nanostructured transition metal carbides and nitrides, ultrathin transition metal silicide thin films, and self-assembly nanostructured oxides.
