Nan Zhang is Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemistry, Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, Canada.

She received her B.Sc. in 2005 from Nanjing University in physics and her DPhil in 2009 from the University of Oxford in Condensed Matter Physics. After she obtained her DPhil degree, she continued working at the University of Oxford as postdoctoral research assistant for two years, and then moved to Simon Fraser University as postdoctoral fellow. She has participated in many research projects including the crystallographic structures and phases of lead-containing and lead-free piezoelectric materials; optical study of near-zero-birefringence yet electrically polar crystal; atomistic structures of ferroelectric and antiferroelectric materials. She is the author or coauthor of 15 refereed papers, one international patent, and 9 conference papers or presentations, including 3 invited presentations in international conferences or events.

Dr. Zhang’s current research field is on ferroelectric, antiferroelectric, and piezoelectric related materials and devices, focusing on the microstructures and its relationship with the physical properties, and the development of novel materials.
