Tatsuki Ohji

Ohji_PhotoTatsuki Ohji is a Prime Senior Research Scientist at the  National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan. He received his BS and MS in mechanical engineering from Nagoya Institute of Technology and his Ph. D. in inorganic materials engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology.

 

He has authored or coauthored more than 350 peer-reviewed papers and 20 books or book chapters, and has edited more than 40 books and conference volumes.  His research interests include mechanical property characterization of ceramics, ceramic composites and porous materials, microstructural design of ceramic materials for better performance, structural control of meso/macro porous ceramics, and green manufacturing of ceramic components.

 

A Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), The American Ceramic Society (ACerS) and ASM International, and an Academician of the World Academy of Ceramics (WAC), he has received numerous awards including Bridge Building Award of the ACerS Engineering Ceramics Division (ECD), ACerS John Jeppson Award, IIM Lectureship Award of ASM International, Aurel Stodola Honour Medal of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, IMR Lee Hsun Lecture Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Bhagat Memorial Lecture Award of the Indian Ceramic Society, Academic Achievement Award of the Ceramic Society of Japan, and Distinguished Research Achievement Award of the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy.  He has chaired or organized more than 40 international conferences and symposia. 

 

He currently serves as an ACerS Director, an ACerS ECD Trustee, a Trustee of ACerS Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation, a Governor of Acta Materialia, Inc., a member of WAC Advisory Board, a Chair of WAC Nomination Committee, and an Editor-in-Chief of Ceramic International in addition to an editorial board member for many international journals.
