Manoj Choudhary

Manoj Choudhary is a member of Senior Technical Staff at Owens Corning’s Science & Technology Center in Granville, Ohio.  He obtained his doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At MIT he received the Falih N. Darmara Award for excellence in academic performance, research, and extra-curricular activities. He received his MS in Chemical Engineering from State University of New York in Buffalo, and B. Tech. (Honors) in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. At IIT he was awarded the Professor S. K. Nandi Gold Medal for being the “best all rounder” Chemical Engineering student and the Institute Silver Medal for securing the first rank in the Chemical Engineering class of 1974.  After post-doctoral research at MIT, Dr. Choudhary joined Owens-Corning in 1982.

At Owens Corning, Dr. Choudhary has been involved in process and product development through the application of materials science and engineering fundamentals, and computational fluid dynamics.  His scientific and technical pursuits span a broad range of glass fiber and polymeric materials based processes and products. His contributions have led to many pioneering developments in glass melting and polymeric extrusion technologies and to the development of novel fiberglass and extruded polystyrene foam insulation products.

Dr. Choudhary’s academic and professional achievements have been recognized by numerous awards both inside and outside of Owens Corning.  These include a Best Paper Award from the Glass Industry Committee of IEEE, Glass Service International Modeling Award, and multiple times, the Slayter and “Vision to Reality” Awards (the highest technical achievement awards) in Owens Corning.  He is a Fellow of the Society of Glass Technology and also a Fellow of The American Ceramic Society. He has been past president/chair of the Center for Glass Research at Alfred University, the Glass Manufacturing Industry Council (GMIC) and the Glass and Optical Materials Division of ACerS.  He is the Vice-President of the International Commission on Glass. In 2004 he was honored by being made a Foreign Member of the Czech Glass Society.  Dr. Choudhary is an associate editor of the International Journal of Applied Glass Science and a registered professional engineer in the state of Ohio.
