Fred Stover

Fred Stover graduated with a Bachelor of Ceramic Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1960. He has held many positions in his career, including sales representative for Norton Co. (now St. Gobain) of Worcester, MA, where he had several territories over a period of 7 years.

Stover co-founded Applied Ceramics, Inc. in 1967 in Doraville, GA. He was the Ceramic Engineer and Lab Director for Thermo Materials, now Ceradyne in Scottdale, GA. He was a district sales manager for Exolon Co. for more than 8 years. He is principal, chair and founder of Matrix Enterprises and since 1985 has served as a manufacturer's representative and distributor for ceramic raw materials. Stover is the North American distributor of Jagdish Electronics' DEPA dynamic elastic properties analyzer. He currently represents All States Refractory Contractors of Waterville, OH, a furnace repair company. He also represents GQ Gateway, Inc. of Chino, CA, is the North American distributor for Dalian Jinma Boron Carbide.

Mr. Stover has spoken to students at events at the University of Missouri-Rolla (now MS&T-Rolla) and Georgia Tech and is a consultant for the abrasive and refractory industries on silicon carbide and fused alumina. He is a past president of the ACerS/National Institute of Ceramic Engineers. Mr. Stover is the past chair and current treasurer of the Michigan/NW Ohio section of The American Ceramic Society. He was the chair of the Technology and Manufacturing sub-committee of The American Ceramic Society's Meeting Committee. In this position he developed the Industry Track series of symposiums dealing with industry issues for the materials industries. He was a member of the President's Council of Industrial Advisors and has chaired the John Jeppson and Corporate Environmental Achievement Award Committees.

In 2005 he was elected to the Engineering Hall of Fame at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
