Pull out your Shrek souvenir red/green cardboard glasses. You will need them for this intriguing simulation video I found of ceramic cellular structures by Tobias Fey at the University of Erlangen’s Glass and Ceramic department’s website. Although the captions are all in German, viewers will immediately get how they can fly through silicon carbide, biomorphic silicon carbide, hydroxyapatite and silica-coated cellulose. Fey, head of the department’s Simulation and Mechanical Reliability Group, apparently made this video back in 2009. The video is about four minutes long.
