Money can’t buy happiness, but it sure can pay the rent. And tuition.

Lucky for you, you still have a chance to get some green—the deadline for the Lewis C. Hoffman Scholarship has been extended to June 15, 2014.

Hosted by ACerS Electronics Division, the award provides $2000 towards tuition costs to encourage undergraduates’ academic interest and excellence in ceramics/materials science and engineering.

Brady Gibbons, Secretary-elect of ACerS Electronics Division, says, “The Lewis C. Hoffman Scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for a junior year undergraduate student (or a student who has recently completed his/her junior year). The criteria are not simply grades, but a faculty recommendation and an essay are also used to help judge. ACerS’ Electronics Division is very proud to support this prestigious award. Please encourage your qualified students to apply!”

The scholarship will be awarded based upon GPA, test scores, extracurricular activities, a faculty-submitted recommendation letter, and an essay (500 words) by the student. The 2014 essay topic is “Solid state ceramic electrolytes for energy applications.”

For more information, click here for the scholarship website. June 15 will be here before you know it—so apply today!
