  • Swedish glass blowers Orrefors have failed to find a new owner, sealing plans to move production away from Sweden’s  “Crystal Kingdom.” All production will now cease at the glassworks in Southwestern Sweden.
  • Verallia group Saint-Gobain Oberland recorded a consolidated turnover of €257.2 million in the first six months of 2013, down 0.4% from the same period a year before; sales in Germany rose slightly by 0.2% from €199.6 million to €200.0 million. Market conditions in Eastern Europe were inconsistent; in Russia, sales fell by 6.2% but in Ukraine rose 6.7%. The market situation in the container glass market in Germany in the first six months of the year was affected by bad weather conditions, lower crop yields, and weak beverage consumption, the company says.
  • Zhangzhou Kibing Glass Co. Ltd. Zhangzhou Kibing Glass Co. Ltd. launched a seventh production line and manufactures low-E glass, SUN-e glass, automobile glass, etc. Annual capacity will be up to four million weight cases. 
  • Iluka Resources Ltd. (pdf) has been granted four exploration tenements and has agreed to acquire all the issued capital of PKD Resources (Pvt.) Ltd., the holder of an additional exploration tenement. All the potential explloration sites are located near the city of Puttalam in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka and cover an aggregate area of 146 km2.
