Professor Takayuki (Taka) Komatsu has had a long and distinguished career at the Nagaoka University of Technology, where is he currently in his last year as a full professor and Vice President for Research and Education. His scientific work has pioneered the use of laser light in the formation of specialty oriented crystals and broadly contributed to the understanding of crystallization. He has over 200 publications with his students and collaborators. Dr. Komatsu is a recipient of a 1996 Richard M. Fulrath award by the American Ceramic Society, and was the Conference Chair of the 11th International Symposium on Crystallization in Glasses and Liquids, held in Nagaoka in October of 2015.
The purpose of this symposium is to celebrate Taka Komatsu’s contributions to materials science. It is especially appropriate to gather friends, former students, and colleagues, in a tribute to Taka.
