International Chapters

ACerS International Chapters serve ACerS members in their local communities outside the United States.

Check out ACerS International, a new brand extension for The American Ceramic Society. See how you can use it with your International Chapter!

ACerS around the world

Nearly 40% of ACerS members are located outside of the United States. To better serve our members around the world, ACerS supports the formation of International Chapters when requested by members in regions or localities outside of the United States where concentrations of ACerS members reside.

ACerS International Chapters work cooperatively with national and regional ceramic, glass, and materials societies to further promote the local/regional ceramics and glass community. In addition to regular ACerS member benefits, members of International Chapters have access to programming and networking opportunities with other local/regional ACerS members. Each Chapter holds at least two technical, educational, or professional events per year.

Volunteer in your area

If you are interested in volunteering on a local level, get involved with your local Chapter. Volunteer opportunities can include Chapter leadership, assisting with a specific event or mentoring a local student. Chapter affiliation is included at no charge with your ACerS membership.

Find your local Chapter below and contact the Chapter leadership to get involved. Don't see a Chapter in your country? Contact Vicki Evans to find out how to establish a Chapter.

How to establish a new Chapter

A minimum of 12 ACerS members in good standing who reside in the geographic area is required to establish a new ACerS International Chapter. Seven of the 12 petitioning members must be Regular/Senior/Emeritus/DLM or Corporate members of the Society. Material Advantage student members (i.e., ACerS joint student program with ASM International, Association of Iron and Steel Technology, and The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society) may join a Chapter, but cannot be among the twelve charter members.

Joining an ACerS International Chapter is free and based upon residing in the defined region. Membership in ACerS is a prerequisite for membership in an ACerS International Chapter.
