Call for Contributing Editors

Professors, Researchers, Retirees, Post-Docs and Graduate Students…

Earn recognition and compensation as a Contributing Editor. The general editors of the ACerS-NIST Phase Equilibria Diagrams reference series are in need of individuals from the ceramics community to critically evaluate published articles containing phase diagrams. Additional contributing editors are needed to edit new phase diagrams and write short commentaries to accompany each phase diagram added to the series. Speaking German, French, Chinese, Russian, Azerbaijani, or Japanese is a plus.  Apply today!

Phase Diagram Researchers   Qualifications

Send us your reprints (we need full citation information) of papers with diagrams you wish to have evaluated for inclusion in the database – please pass this request on to your colleagues!

General understanding of the Gibbs phase rule and experimental procedures for determination of phase equilibria diagrams, and/or knowledge of theoretical methods to calculate phase diagrams.

Recognition

The Contributing Editor’s initials will accompany each commentary written for the publication. In addition, your name and affiliation also will be included on the Title Pages under Contributing Editors.

Compensation

Per article covering one chemical system:

  • $150 for the commentary, plus $10 for each diagram.

For articles covering multiple chemical systems:

  • $150 for the first commentary, plus $10 for each diagram.
  • $50 for each additional commentary, plus $10 for each diagram.

The Phase Equilibria Diagrams Editor digitizes various types of diagrams, including binary, ternary, and schematic diagrams, and data can be extracted. The PED Editor can also be used for general graph digitization and two-dimensional scientific drawing.

I am surprised at how easy it is to draw one’s first phase diagram from an old image file within 15 minutes and yet capture a lot of the complexities of the phase equilibria. ~PED Editor user
