Session 8: Glass for Nuclear Waste Immobilization (TC05)


The session aims to gather researchers, experts from the area of material science, process and technology concerning vitrification of hazardous waste. The organizers intend to tackle all the main issues of waste vitrification from fundamental to more applied topics. This session will be the opportunity to have discussions concerning the main present and future challenges in the field of waste vitrification.


The presentations concerned by this session will deal with: Fundamentals of waste glass;Glass long term durability; Waste glass properties; Vitrification process; Vitrification technology; Self-heating and self-irradiation effects in glasses containing radioactive waste; Waste glass and vitrification process modelling; and Industrial experience feedback.
