China’s Aug rare earth magnets exports to US hit highest since at least 2016

China’s exports of rare earth magnets to the U.S. in August rose to the highest level since at least 2016, pointing to further stockpiling as concerns linger that Beijing could restrict supply in the Sino-U.S. trade war. Exports to the U.S. were 6.2% more than a year earlier and the highest monthly total in customs database records going back to January 2017.

BA Glass plots $227 million Bulgarian furnace investments

Portuguese bottle maker BA Glass plans to invest in the expansion of its Bulgarian capacity. BA Glass intends to build two new furnaces to double the production capacity of its facilities in Bulgaria. The company currently operates two furnaces in the country, in Sofia and Plovdiv.

John Crowther was promoted to Sales Director North America of Nabertherm Inc. effective Sept. 1. Crowther joined Nabertherm in 2014 as senior sales engineer for Nabertherm furnaces in the U.S. In his new role, Crowther is responsible for the U.S. and Canada.

Energy Department announces Phase 1 winners of battery recycling prize

Mkango announces proposed investment to establish rare-earth magnet recycling facility

Mkango Resources Ltd. announced Maginito Limited signed an investment term sheet and one year exclusivity agreement with HyProMag Limited, a private company focused on rare earth magnet recycling, to investigate potential synergies, such as blending of primary production originating from Songwe with recycled production from HyProMag.

Ampcera Inc. announces new roll-to-roll manufacturing tech for solid-state electrolytes

Ampcera Inc.’s new roll-to-roll manufacturing technology allows continuous production of flexible solid-state electrolyte membranes, which can be directly integrated into solid-state lithium batteries. The flexible solid-state electrolyte membranes have a reported thickness of 50 microns or thinner and a room temperature lithium ionic conductivity of 0.5 mS/cm.
