JPL licenses heat-converting material patents to Evident Technologies

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California, has licensed patents on high-temperature thermoelectric materials to Evident Technologies, Troy, N.Y., which provides these kinds of materials and related power systems. Evident Technologies will use technological advances from JPL to develop commercial, high-temperature thermoelectric modules for terrestrial applications.

New, larger ceramic flat washers now part of Ceramco’s stock fastener inventory

In answer to an ever-increasing demand for stock ceramic fasteners in a greater variety of sizes, Ceramco has added new A998 alumina flat washer sizes in inches in metric units. Ceramco’s stock ceramic fastener inventory, including these new larger flat washers, are 100% molded using near-net shaping and then fired to full density. Ceramco stock ceramic fasteners are never machined or fatigued from harsh grinding.

AGC to increase production capacity of solar control Low-E glass in Thailand

Asahi Glass Co. will increase its production capacity of solar control Low-E glass in Thailand by 50%. The investment will not only enhance production efficiency of the facility, but also allow production of higher-performance glass products. The production will begin at the Samut Prakan Plant of AGC Flat Glass Thailand Public Co. Ltd. in the first quarter of 2016.

Corning named 2015 Energy Star Partner of the Year

Corning Incorporated has been named an Energy Star Partner of the Year by the U.S. EPA for the second straight year. The award recognizes organizations that have made significant contributions in energy management and raised awareness about energy efficiency. Microlux Aluminum Powders are ready to mix with de-ionized water for grinding, lapping, and polishing a variety of hard and soft precision optics. Capable of producing surface finishes to 10-5 scratch-dig, they are an effective alternative to diamond abrasives in many applications.

Carroll Thomas named director of Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership

Carroll Thomas has been appointed director of the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. In partnership with local nonprofits, MEP provides support to small and medium-size U.S. manufacturers through a network of centers in every state and Puerto Rico.
