GulfGuard invests in machinery for Saudi float glass plant

Saudi Guardian International Float Glass Co (GulfGuard) has agreed in principle to an investment in a high technology coating machine for its float glass plant in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia. GulfGuard is a joint venture owned by Guardian Industries Corp., Zamil Group Holding Company, and The National Company for Glass Industries (Zoujaj). The coater uses advanced technology for turning standard float glass into high performance, value-added glass, to produce low-emissivity (low-E), solar control glass products for residential (ClimaGuard) and commercial (SunGuard) applications.

Knauf Insulation opens first factory in Turkey

Knauf Insulation officially opened its first factory in Turkey. Today, the plant, located in the Turkish province of Eskisehir, has 110 people and has an annual production capacity of 45 000 tonnes.

Dalian Morgan Refractories launches factory in Liaoning Province

Following an initial investment of more than 100 million yuan, Dalian Morgan Refractories (DMR) has announced the opening of its new factory in Pulandian, Liaoning Province. Covering some 66,000m², the site includes offices and a warehouse as well as a total production building and advanced castables workshop. Further development is planned to extend the site’s capabilities, with construction expected to begin in early 2015.

Flinders Resources cuts ribbon on Woxna mine

Vancouver-based Flinders Resources has cut the ribbon to its Woxna mine, in central Sweden, potentially adding 11.000 tpy of flake graphite to the open market when operating at full tilt. The company had managed to get Woxna back up and running for the first time in 13 years by spending less than $3.5 million on the plant and mine; however, it would take the company some time yet to tweak and improve its refining process and it was only expecting to produce up to 4.000 t in the next 12 months.
