Masao Kita is an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Toyama College, Toyama, Japan. He obtained his B.S. (2000), M.S. (2002), and Ph. D. (2005) degrees in Engineering from Osaka University. Kita has been an assistant professor and then associate professor in the Department of Ecomaterials Engineering and Department of Mechanical Engineering at the NIT, Toyama College from 2005 to the present. He was at the University of California, Santa Barbara, as a visiting researcher for one year (2013).

Dr. Kita has published 26 refereed journal papers. He received the Spriggs Phase Equilibria Award from The American Ceramic Society in 2017. His current research interests are exploring novel wide-band-gap and narrow-band gap oxide semiconductors for photoelectric conversion devices and their characterization using X-ray diffraction and a transmission electron microscope.
