Takaaki Tsurumi is Professor of Nano-Phononics Laboratory in the Department of Metallurgy and Ceramics Science at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. He received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Dr. Tsurumi began as a Postdoctoral Fellow at McMaster University, Canada and went on to become a Research Associate at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. He was an Associate Professor from 1990 – 1999, and is a Professor in the Graduate School of Science and Engineering from 1999 – present. Dr. Tsurumi belongs to many professional societies including the IEEE, The American Ceramic Society, The Ceramics Society of Japan, The Japan Society of Applied Physics and The Materials Research Society of Japan. Several of his awards include the Tejima Award for Ph. D thesis of Tokyo Institute of Technology, the Awards Advancements in Ceramics Science and Technology of the Ceramics Society of Japan, the Fulrath Award of the American Ceramic Society, and the Award of Academic Achievements in Ceramics Science and Technology of the Ceramics Society of Japan.
