Wiley and Jisc enter “Read and Publish” agreement

U.K.-based corresponding authors will be given the option to publish open access in Wiley journals, including all ACerS journals, at no extra cost to them, thanks to a four-year “read and publish” agreement between Wiley and Jisc, the U.K.’s research and education not-for-profit that negotiates licenses and digital content agreements on behalf of U.K. universities. The agreement will also enable institutions and their users to access all of Wiley’s journals. The full details will be made public at the end of March.

IJCES is now indexed in Directory of Open Access Journals

Even more good news for authors publishing articles in IJCES! On February 10, International Journal of Ceramic Engineering and Science was accepted into the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), which is the highly respected index for Gold OA journals.

Unlike commercial indexing services (e.g., SCIE and Scopus), DOAJ is community (membership) driven. It is focused on ensuring OA journals adhere to the best practices of open science, with broad dissemination of articles and sharing of meta-data with other indexes to further enhance article discoverability.

It should be noted that IJCES had high download rates prior to being indexed.  Imagine how many people will discover your IJCES article with the added exposure from DOAJ. Submit your article now to https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/IJCES.

IJCES reminds ICACC, EMA conference presenters to take advantage of special APC

One part of the mission of IJCES is publishing peer-reviewed articles on work-in-progress presented at ACerS conferences. ACerS and Wiley, our publishing partner, have teamed up to substantially underwrite the open-access article processing charge for conference presenters. The fee for conference articles is deeply discounted to $100. Submit your manuscript today!

Updates to ACerS Publication Central

The topical collection on Refractory Ceramics was recently added.

Topical collections are compilations of articles from one or more ACerS journal on a specific subject.

Conference collections highlight work from and pertinent to ACerS conferences.

Apologies to members who experienced issues with access to ACerS journal articles.  The underlying software was updated, and Murphy’s law ruled. Fortunately, the issues have been resolved and full member access was restored. Please let Jonathon Foreman, managing editor, know if you experience any further issues by contacting him at jforeman@ceramics.org.

Hint of the month

Did you know that you can review the publishing webinars and workshops presented by the ACerS editors? As a service to our authors, we have posted links to the recordings and presentation slides at https://ceramics.org/publications-resources/journals. (Scroll down to the bottom of the page.) The next workshop will be held at the GOMD meeting in New Orleans and is open to all attendees.
