EPDC Volunteer Position Available
2023-2028 EPDC Awards Committee Member
The Awards Committee is a standing committee of the EPDC composed of five members of the EPDC who have reached their 41st birthday prior to the current year. Members of this Committee will be appointed by the Board of Directors of the Society upon recommendation by the Co-Chairs of the EPDC; one member shall be appointed each year for a term of five years. They shall not be eligible for immediate reappointment. The senior member shall serve as chair of the Committee for all of its activities each year. Serving as an ACerS EPDC Awards Committee member is a 5-year commitment, with the senior member of the committee serving as the chair, and meetings virtually 2-3 times a year to solicit nominations, evaluate the candidates, and select the award winner for the four EPDC awards. The members of the committee are also invited to attend the EPDC council meetings with at least one spokesperson attending to provide a short report. The EPDC Awards Committee position will begin at the ACerS Annual Meeting at MS&T.
Any ACerS member who is a member of the EPDC, has reached their 41st birthday prior to the current year, and has interest or relevant experience is encouraged to apply.

Volunteer(s) must be a current ACerS member. Ideally volunteer(s) will be a member of the YPN who have completed their university/student career and are 40 years of age or under.

YPN+1 Program
The YPN+1 program offers a couple of ways that YPN members may seek to become involved in leadership roles. Find out more about the: YPN Division Liaison and the YPN Symposium Co-organizer below.
YPN Division Liaisons
The opportunity to become a YPN Division Liaison will provide the ability for YPN members to connect in a meaningful way to their ACerS Division, learn how the Division operates, contribute to Division decisions, help promote engagement with other young professionals, and more.
YPN Division Liaisons must be a member of ACerS Young Professionals Network (YPN) and a member of the specific ACerS Division.
YPN Symposium Co-organizers
The opportunity to become a YPN Symposium Co-organizer will provide the ability for YPN members to learn how: technical meetings are run, abstracts are selected, and final sessions are organized.
YPN Symposium Co-organizers must be a member of ACerS Young Professionals Network (YPN) and at this time will be reviewed/accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
The YPN+1 program is open to all eligible YPN members, although preference will be given to those who are not currently enrolled students.

ACerS Board of Directors
Elected by the membership from among its members, The American Ceramic Society’s Board of Directors sets policy, approves the budget, makes appointments to leadership and representative positions, confers awards, and carries out other important matters for the Society. Ultimately, the board is responsible for setting the Society’s strategic direction.
Board members are elected to three-year terms. Nine voting directors serve at-large. Their terms are staggered so that a third of the at-large seats become vacant every year. The president is elected to a term of one year as a voting member. The president also serves one year in advance of his/her term as president-elect, and one year following as the immediate past president. The Society’s treasurer is appointed for a two-year term. ACerS executive director, parliamentarian and student member serve as non-voting, ex-officio members of the Board.
Each year, the Nominating Committee of The American Ceramic Society considers several dozen candidates for the three director positions available each year on ACerS Board of Directors. This form is used to collect information from potential candidates for nominees to ensure that all potential candidates are given fair and equal consideration, whether or not they are personally known to members of the Nominating Committee.
President-elect
Each year, the Nominating Committee of The American Ceramic Society considers several candidates for the president-elect position of the ACerS Board of Directors. This form is used to collect information from potential candidates for nominees to ensure that all potential candidates are given fair and equal consideration, whether or not they are personally known to members of the Nominating Committee.
Candidates are asked to fill out the form(s) as completely as possible, following the instructions given. ALL INFORMATION PROVIDED WILL REMAIN CONFIDENTIAL AND BE AVAILABLE ONLY TO THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE. The one exception to this is that we may choose to solicit additional information from the references you provide. This form(s) will stay on file for THREE YEARS from the date of application.
