Marie Jackson Bio

Marie Jackson is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Utah. Her research focuses on the volcanic construction materials of ancient monuments in Rome, and of Roman harbor concrete structures in the Mediterranean region through the ROMACONS drilling project.


Jackson is the leader of the SUSTAIN drilling project, sponsored by the International Continental Drilling Program, at Surtsey Volcano, Iceland, a young, protected natural reserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site (https://surtsey50years.utah.edu/).
