Session 1: Glass Surfaces and Functional Coatings
This session will focus on surfaces in glassy and film-related systems enabling new functionalities and properties, and with particular interest to energy and environmental applications. Included in this scope will be fundamental studies of glass surface properties and methods for modifying or characterizing glass surfaces, as well as functional glass films, and glassy or polycrystalline films on glass. Special focus will be given to studies of glass surface reactivity and physicochemical origins, as well as modeling, film deposition techniques (sputtering, evaporation, sol-gel, etc.), performance metrics, and environmental issues.
