Douglas Freitag

Douglas Freitag is the Technical Director of the United States Advanced Ceramics Association (USACA). Formed in 1985, USACA is the premier association promoting the common business interests of the advanced ceramics supply chain to the US Government. Freitag has a technical background with a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University where he graduated with highest honors. Upon graduation he served in various management and engineering roles while employed by Lockheed Martin, Honeywell, and Ford Motor Company. He received several awards while at Lockheed Martin for his contributions to military systems including transition of a new ceramic radome material for use in PAC-3, IRBAS.

Freitag has been actively involved in the development and application of advanced materials throughout his career and has served as the Technical Director of the US Advanced Ceramics Association for the past 25 years. Through USACA and its member companies, Freitag is currently facilitating the development of advanced ceramic technology roadmaps that will serve as the framework for future investment.  Freitag is a frequent speaker on advanced materials and has over 80 publications related to the development and transition of advanced materials including six patents.
