Richard Hulme

Richard Hulme’s career began in the glass container industry in 1973 when he joined Redfearn National Glass in Barnsley.  He has held senior technical and managerial roles within the glass industry.

Hulme has been with Guardian Glass for over 23 years, leading process & product development, engineering design & construction and operations development & improvement groups.  He holds over 25 patents.  He is currently Technical Fellow/ Senior Glass Technologist based within the Science & Technology function.

Hulme has served on ICG Technical Committee 9 (Energy Efficiency) and on several technical committees of the SGT including physical properties, chemical analysis and, more recently, the Melting Technology Committee.  He is a Centenary Fellow of the Society of Glass technology.
