Rolled Glass – Global Strategic Business Report

A new Research and Markets report analyzes the worldwide markets for rolled glass in thousand metric tons. The report provides separate comprehensive analytics for the US, Canada, Japan, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Latin America. Annual estimates and forecasts are provided for the period 2010 through 2018. Also, a six-year historic analysis is provided for these markets. The report profiles 35 companies including many key and niche players such as Asahi Glass Co., Ltd., AGC Glass Company North America, AGC Glass Europe, Compagnie De Saint-Gobain, Saint-Gobain SEFPRO, Guardian Industries Corp., Guardian Glass Espana CV SA, Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd., Pilkington Group Limited, SCHOTT AG, Taiwan Glass Group, and ViridianT Glass. Even though a tiny blip on the world radar, rolled glass market is poised for steady growth in future, despite the fact that float lines are continuously replacing production lines of wired and patterned glass across the globe. Another major factor to the market is the growing demand for solar glass in China. This is largely because rolled glass offers many benefits over float glass, as far as solar glass is concerned.

Special report: Global glass bottle markets

(The Drinks Report) As the leading pack type globally in alcoholic drinks, retail sales of glass reached almost 200 billion units in 2012. The beer category largely determines the fortunes of glass packaging within this industry, accounting for a 74% unit volume share. In addition, beer’s relatively low alcohol content compared to other alcoholic beverages and low retail price make it accessible to a wide range of people and suitable for many consumption occasions. Wine, which accounts for an 11% global share of glass unit volumes in alcoholic drinks, was another healthy category globally in 2012, with non-grape wine dominating volumes and retail sales of sparkling wine in glass increasing by 3% on the previous year. Cider/perry is also creating some interesting growth opportunities for glass as an alternative to domestic lager, especially in the UK and South Africa. Glass’ increase over 2012 amid tight economic conditions largely stems from a rise in alcoholic drinks volume sales in developing markets as growing incomes enabled a higher number of consumers to afford such products.
