Spiegelau and two breweries come up with a new glass design just for stouts

Glassmaker Spiegelau and the brewers from Rogue Ales and Left Hand Brewing Company have collaborated on what they say is the perfect vessel for consuming the thick black elixir—a thinner tankard with a narrow base that expands into a wide bowl then tapers to the rim. This Spiegelau glass ($24.90 for two) is meant to maximize the aroma of the beer and send it into the mouth more delicately than the humble pint glass.

Monroe capital provides $23M unitranche credit facility to industrial ceramics manufacturing company

Monroe Capital LLC announced the funding of a $23 million unitranche credit facility to support the growth of an industrial ceramics manufacturing company. Based in the Midwest, the company is a leading provider of products and services used in the refractories market. The financing will allow for further expansion into the company’s core oil and gas markets.

Citadel Capital receives offer worth $112 million for Sphinx Glass

Sphinx Glass, a 200,000 ton per annum, state-of-the-art float glass production facility, began full operations in April 2010 and is one of the largest independently operated float glass producers in the Middle East and North Africa region. The company recorded EGP 393 million in sales in 2013 and is currently on target to exceed its budget for the second consecutive year. Citadel Capital will be divesting its 73.3 percent ownership stake in the company, which will result in cash proceeds of approximately $73 million after the estimated capital gains tax.

Large scale ceramic membrane drinking water plant demonstrated in the Netherlands

Dutch water company PWN Technologies has demonstrated its 120,000 m3/day Andijk III drinking water plant using suspended ion exchange and ceramic membrane filtration technology. Costing 60 million euros, this is the largest installation using the company’s ceramic membrane technology, following a trial with utility PUB in Singapore (1,200 m3/day) and a smaller trial currently underway with UK utility South West Water of 140 m3/day. Andijk III will use the company’s Suspended Ion Exchange (SIX) technology to remove natural and organic materials, as well as sulphates and nitrates from surface water.

Alfred University ceramic technology expert joins state business networking group as adviser

Barry Watkins, deputy director of the Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology at Alfred University, has joined the FuzeHub team as an industry and technology adviser. FuzeHub is an initiative that works to better connect New York’s small and mid-sized manufacturing companies to the resources, programs, and expertise they need for technology commercialization, innovative solutions, and business growth.
