Alcoa announces multiyear supply contracts with Boeing valued at more than $2.5B
Lightweight metals leader Alcoa announced long-term supply contracts with Boeing valued at over $2.5 billion. Alcoa will supply multi-material fastening systems for every Boeing platform in its largest fastener deal ever. Alcoa also will supply ready-to-install titanium seat track assemblies for the entire 787 Dreamliner family.
Air Products moves forward with its Materials Technologies business spin-off to Versum Materials
Air Products has filed an initial Form 10* registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to move forward the previously announced spin-off of its Materials Technologies business, which will be named Versum Materials. Air Products expects to complete the spin-off on or before September 2016.
Coalition aims for fundamental research of glass strength
Members of various glass manufacturing sectors have recently come together to establish the Usable Glass Strength Coalition, which aims to support fundamental research on the usable strength of glass. The coalition was established in 2013 in partnership with the Glass Manufacturing Industry Council.
American Elements to launch new website and online catalog
In January 2016, metals and chemicals manufacturer American Elements will launch a new website and online catalog to mark the company’s 20th year. Among the numerous upgrades to its 15,000 product catalog include a Research Center with detailed abstracts of over 2,000 research papers selected from more than 140 global technology periodicals. In addition, over 5,000 Safety Data Sheets will now be printable directly from the website.
Anhui Yingliu Group inaugurates Quintus hot isostatic press
Jan Söderström, CEO of Quintus Technologies, joined Frank Du, President of China’s Yingliu Group, to celebrate the inauguration of a Quintus Hot Isostatic Press at the Anhui Yingliu Group Huoshan Casting Co. Ltd. foundry in Anhui province, China, in early December. The new press, model QIH 1.6 x 2.5 – 2000 – 1400M URC, brings several advanced capabilities.
