CLEVELAND, OHIO—Cleveland will host more than 3,000 ceramic and glass commercial and manufacturing industry leaders and 300 vendors for Ceramics Expo 2016, April 26–28, outpacing last year’s event, which brought 171 exhibitors and more than 2,300 attendees from 25 countries representing 1,000 organizations.
Ceramics Expo also offers the industry’s only free-to-attend, twin track, commercial and manufacturing conference that runs parallel to the Expo. This year’s conference will feature speakers from organizations including Corning, GE, 3M, Rolls-Royce, and Boeing, and other industry leaders.
“This exciting year-over-year growth of Ceramics Expo signals not just the need for the event, but the vibrancy of our industry as it drives technology advances in electronics, transportation, medicine, communication and so much more,” says Charlie Spahr, executive director of The American Ceramic Society (ACerS), organizing partner of Ceramics Expo.

- Ceramic Leadership Summit (CLS)—a strategy-focused meeting for decision makers in our industry, presentations will cover innovations in manufacturing, impact of changing demographics on business, financing the venture, and acquisition strategies, among others;
- Targeted Learning Workshops—hands-on workshops for the makers and doers in your organization;
- ACerS Manufacturing Division meeting—a rejuvenated ACerS community just for ceramic and glass manufacturers.
Cleveland luminaries at Ceramics Expo
- During CLS, Susan Helper, former chief economist at the U.S. Department of Commerce and current Carlton Professor of Economics at the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, will present an overview of global economy and supply chain economics.
- John Nottingham, of Cleveland Heights-based innovation firm Nottingham Spirk, will talk about vertical innovation at CLS.
- Frank G. Jackson, the mayor of Cleveland, will welcome Ceramics Expo attendees on April 26.
- This year’s Expo will open with a session about the future of the ceramics industry, presented by Janet Kavandi, deputy director at NASA Glenn Research Center; and Don Bray, vice president, technology, North America at Morgan Advanced Materials. Morgan has a branch in Bedford, Ohio.
