The October/November issue of the ACerS Bulletin is now available online.

In this annual international issue of the Bulletin, the cover story takes us on a worldwide journey to examine the state of the ceramic and glass industry. This year’s focus is on France, a global groundbreaker in ceramic and glass R&D. France has several large and well-established government-funded research centers, numerous global companies, and leading academic institutions that together innovate and collaborate across borders to serve society. Turn to the article to get a flavor of France’s ceramic and glass research efforts and its global commerce market. And don’t miss the infographic at the end of the article—France’s top export may surprise you.

The October/November issue of the Bulletin also features a report on the Society’s strategic initiatives by ACerS president Mrityunjay Singh. Stemming from a recent SWOT—strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats—analysis exercise, these ongoing initiatives aim to support ACerS growth and improve how the Society serves its diverse members. Current initiatives focus on expanding membership, supporting ACerS divisions, bolstering ACerS journals and proceedings, and strengthening the Ceramic Publications Company. Read on to see what ACerS has planned for each of these strategic areas.

The latest issue also includes a feature article about the impact of OSHA’s new silica dust regulations, which were released in March 2016. How will the new regulations affect your workplace? John Keaser, Jr., lead CAD engineer at RoboVent, details the changes that these regulations will require, providing compelling reasons to comply and outlining steps that companies can take towards cleaner air.

Plus, there’s lots more good stuff inside this—and every issue—of the ACerS Bulletin. The current issue is free to all for a short time, but remember that all the valuable content in over ninety years of past issues of the ACerS Bulletin is free only to members—so considering joining us today!
