  • The lead independent director on the Owens-Illinois Board of Directors, Corbin A. McNeill, Jr., has resigned due to personal reasons. In response to McNeill’s resignation, the Board has selected Peter S. Hellman, current chair of the Board’s audit committee, as its interim lead independent director.
  • Vitro’s (pdf) executive vice president of legal and general Alejandro F. Sanchez Mœjica, is to retire next August 15. In the coming months, he will continue to provide his experience to the organization, supporting and advising in legal matters. The areas under his supervision will now report to the chief administrative and financial officer.
  • Magnesita Refratários S.A. announces that it has completed the acquisition of Dalian Mayerton Refractories Co. Limited (“DMR”), a plant for manufacturing refractory materials, located in the city of Dalian (Liaoning Province, PRC), with an installed production capacity of up to 50,000 TPY of mag-carbon refractory bricks. The transaction is valued at approximately USD 22 million, including DMR’s existing liabilities.
