Twenty five students, pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees, at 17 different universities, gathered in Daytona Beach, Florida, on January 22 and 23 for the annual PCSA business meeting. The American Ceramic Society’s PCSA, which stands for President’s Council of Student Advisors, met to discuss communication, programming, finance, grant writing, and recruitment goals for the upcoming year. The PCSA has sponsored a variety of ceramic opportunities to students in the past year, including a grant for students to attend MS&T in Houston and a private tour of the NASA facilities there.

This year, the PCSA hopes to create more ceramics-based resources online for Material Advantage and Keramos chapters as well as a find-a-grad-school searchable database based on research interests and geographic preference. Other goals include securing more funding for students to attend ceramic conferences throughout the year, distributing ceramic demonstration kits to interested universities for outreach opportunities, and increasing the number of universities with PCSA delegates, just to name a few.

The PCSA web page will be going through many changes in the upcoming months, and we invite you to

check it out as we add more interactive features and resources.
