ACerS Basic Science Division organizes the annual Graduate Excellence in Materials Science (GEMS) awards to recognize the outstanding achievements of graduate students in Materials Science and Engineering. The award is open to all graduate students who are making an oral talk in any session at MS&T.

To apply, graduate students must electronically submit oral abstracts, the Symposium to which the abstract has been submitted, and a three page summary of academic and research accomplishments (in Word or pdf format) to Dr. John Blendell.

In addition, the faculty advisor must submit a recommendation letter endorsing the student and attesting that he/she is currently a full-time graduate student. This also must be sent electronically to Dr. Blendell.
