Get your very own miniature stein manufactured in ACerS PCSA’s first 3D printing stein design contest. Celebrate traditional ceramic processing with a modern twist. Applicants will design their very own miniature stein that celebrates ceramics by utilizing open source 3D software such as gmsh, meshlab, or ReplicatorG.

Entries will be judged based on creativity, aesthetics, and usability by members of the PCSA, ACerS’ student-led committee. One hand-drawn design and one electronic design will be selected and manufactured utilizing high-tech 3D printing methods to create a plastic prototype, which will be used to generate a mold from which the design will be slip casted using conventional ceramic processing methods. The winner will receive a ceramic version of their design and their manufactured stein will be featured at ACerS events throughout the year.

Electronic submissions must be sent to 3dsteindesign@ceramics.org by February 28, 2014.
