The ACerS Germany Chapter co-organized BIODENT, a biomaterials workshop, with the Indo-German Science and Technology Centre, held at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, Feb. 13–15, 2023. The workshop was coordinated by professors Bikramjit Basu and Aldo Boccacini.

The workshop was very well attended and offered the young professionals a good scientific networking opportunity. Several of the Germany Chapter members actively contributed, including five participants from the University of Cologne.

Three best oral presentation awards were sponsored by the ACerS Germany Chapter:

First place: Richard Frank Richter, TU Dresden, Germany; Title: Calcium phosphate cement and mesoporous bioactive glass as a 3D printable composite for the treatment of critical alveolar bone defects

Second place: Deepa Mishra, IIS Bangalore, India; Title: Unravelling impact of hybrid threaded zirconia implant on biomechanical response in peri-prosthetic bone: An in silico model

Third place: Berfu Göksel, KU Leuven, Belgium; Title: Production of high-density monolithic alumina toughened zirconia parts with material extrusion for dental implant applications
