The ACerS International Germany Chapter hosted a joint seminar on July 24, 2025, featuring two international professors emphasizing the need to tailor ceramic materials towards their specific applications . The first speaker, Silvia Gross, a professor at the University of Padova, Italy, gave an interesting talk on the “Optimization of Inorganic Materials for a Clean Environment by Navigating the Experimental Parameters Space”. She was followed by the impressive talk by Abhijit Patra, a professor at IISER Bhopal, India, entitled: “Interdisciplinary Approaches to Self-Assembly: From Fluorescent Nanoparticles to Nanoporous Organic Polymers”. The talks highlight how material design at the interface of structure and function, spanning from both, organic and inorganic systems across nano- to macroscale, relies on interdisciplinary approaches, a rational understanding of synthesis–property relationships, and targeted material selection to enable sustainable technological development.
