From August 26-28, 2024, the ACerS International Thailand Chapter proudly supported students and faculty members in showcasing their ceramic-related research at the Thailand Research Expo 2024, held at the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre. This initiative reflects the Chapter’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of ceramic scientists and fostering innovation within the field. Among the notable projects were groundbreaking research on ceramic materials for triboelectric innovations, such as generating electricity from rainwater to power streetlights and a triboelectric energy-harvesting watch designed for monitoring Parkinson’s disease. These impressive projects, developed by students from the Advanced Materials Research Unit (AMR), received recognition and awards, underscoring the significant contributions of ceramic research to advancing technology and sustainability. Other projects highlighted the upcycling of ceramic waste, including the transformation of old electrical insulator cups into non-slip road materials, as well as the innovative recycling of unused ceramic insulators into coasters and cat litter. Additionally, there was research on the use of glass powder for low-temperature ceramic glazing, contributing to a greener future. The event not only showcased cutting-edge research but also demonstrated the pivotal role of international collaboration in driving scientific progress. Through these efforts, the ACerS International Thailand Chapter is helping to shape the future of ceramics and its applications.
