With the start of summer next Tuesday comes the start of this year’s CaliBaja Webinar Series!
The CaliBaja Webinar Series is a virtual event organized by the University of San Diego CaliBaja Center for Resilient Materials and Systems. Olivia Graeve, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at UC San Diego and director of the CaliBaja Center, says they started the series two years ago to connect researchers and students of the Americas on topics of mutual interest.
The webinars, which take place June through August each year, are offered in both English and Spanish. This year, in honor of the International Year of Glass, the CaliBaja organizers are collaborating with the University of Nevada–Reno and the Central American Foundation for the development and research of glass art (FUNCDEVI) to offer a special program focused on glass science and art.
Each session for the Iberoamerican Year of Glass Summer 2022 will include a glass scientist and glass artist. The speakers will cover everything from traditional glass topics, such as art and manufacturing, to advanced glass applications, such as biomedical and extreme environments.
“We look forward to a fascinating mix of talks and hope that you can join us,” says Graeve.
The sessions will take place every Tuesday from June 21 to August 23. View the full schedule of events, and register to attend.
