The March 2021 issue of ACerS Bulletin is now available online.

In this month’s issue, we look at ceramic and glass materials for a sustainable energy future. Authors Ram Devanathan, Daiwon Choi, Olga Marina, Josef Matyáš, and Suresh Baskaran give an overview of the ceramic and glass materials used in electricity generation, energy conversion and storage, and waste disposal, and they give a brief outlook for the future of sustainable energy technologies.

In addition to the cover story, a feature story by authors Denny Mathew Alex, Tino Redemann, and Eckehard Specht describes their work on using process modeling to understand the physics and temperature profile of a sanitary ware tunnel kiln so as to optimize firing efficiency.

This month’s “Deciphering the Discipline” column looks at Minda Zou’s research on advanced manufacturing of protonic ceramic energy devices via laser 3D printing. The “Business and Market View” column provides an overview of the global market for solid-state batteries.

This issue also contains the “Into the Bulletin Archives” column, which is part of this year’s ongoing celebrations for ACerS Bulletin Volume 100. The March column takes a look at the Bulletin’s history in the 1930s, including the establishment of the Fellow status in ACerS.

Finally, see a recap of the Electronic Materials and Applications meeting (EMA 2021), which was ACerS first virtual meeting for 2021.
