The June/July 2019 issue of ACerS Bulletin is now available online.
In this month’s issue, feature articles take a look at recent advances in glass science. Authors Scott Cooper and Dan Swiler, glass scientists at Owens-Illinois Inc., describe in the cover story the intricacies behind manufacturing glass containers for food and beverage applications. Also, Kreidl award winner Emily M. Aaldenberg and her advisor Minoru Tomozawa discuss their research on composition fluctuations in silica glass containing water, while two extended abstracts from the International Congress on Glass look at glass innovations for next-generation windows and bioactive glass scaffolds.
The June/July issue contains the annual ACerS Bulletin student section. PCSA chair Scott McCormack provides updates on President’s Council of Student Advisors activities, and five students share insights into their research, from crystal growth to bulk 2D materials. Also check out the Congressional Visits Day 2019 recap by ACerS member engagement manager Yolanda Natividad—make sure to register early for the 2020 event!
