The April 2020 issue of ACerS Bulletin is now available online.
In this month’s issue, we look at hidden ceramics that impact the world. In the cover story, authors Douglas M. Beall and Willard A. Cutler discuss the history of how Corning invented catalytic substrates and filters to help reduce air pollution from vehicles. An accompanying article by authors Don Bray and Bryan McEntire look at application using silicon nitride as a surgical implant material.
Emerging opportunities for transparent ceramics are also highlighted in this month’s “Business and Market View” column, which projects sales of transparent ceramic materials worldwide will reach $765.9 million by 2024.
The April issue contains the second issue of Ceramic & Glass Manufacturing, ACerS new B2B magazine for the ceramics and glass industry. This issue’s theme is “Breaking in: A guide to working with big business” and features a story on the partnering strategies for small companies, including being fast and flexible.
Since the April Bulletin went to print, several ACerS meetings were rescheduled due to concerns about COVID-19.
