Materials Science and Technology 2016 kicked off in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Sunday. The conference for all things materials science brought scientists, researchers, engineers, and many more to the Salt Palace Convention Center to discuss the latest research in all aspects of materials science and engineering.
With stunning mountainous views in the background, over 2,500 conference attendees roamed the convention center’s expansive halls, choosing from more than 2,000 presentations and an expanse of special events, meetings, receptions, and activities hosted by the conference’s five sponsoring organizations—ACerS, AIST, ASM International, TMS, and NACE International.
Technical presentations, which continue through Thursday, run the entire materials science and engineering gamut, from additive manufacturing and energy topics to biomaterials and materials–environment interactions. MS&T16’s rich-yet-concurrent content presented attendees with difficult choices regarding which sessions to attend—groups of attendees were often spotted intently studying the final program.
In addition to high-quality research, the MS&T16 schedule was jam-packed with events, receptions, social events, contests, tours, and so much more—so check out some of our first snapshots of the action.
