The New England Section of The American Ceramic Society kicked off its 2011 meetings on January 24.  Dr. Gary L. Messing, Distinguished Professor of Ceramic Science and Engineering at Penn State, presented recent improvements to the transparency of polycrystalline ceramics for solid-state lasers. Forty attendees negotiated the snow-covered New England roads to hear the former ACerS President speak.

On Wednesday, March 16, Iris Labadie of Kyocera Corporation is scheduled to speak to the Section about RF-MEMS. For up-to-the-minute information and registration details, visit the Section website.
