The Spain International Chapter hosted a workshop on “Vitreous and ceramic materials for high-tech applications” that took place on October 26, 2023, at University of Sevilla.

Residual stresses in electrolytes for protonic conductive fuel cells, flash sintering of ceramic materials, graphene-based structures in zirconia ceramics, zirconia graphene composites for SOFC components, and lead-free low melting point glasses for structural and functional uses, are a few examples out of the eight lectures included in the session that started with the welcoming words of the Chair of ACerS Spain Chapter, Professor Arnaldo Moreno.

These contributions were presented by speakers from various centers linked to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), such as the Nanomaterials & Nanotechnology Research Center (CINN), the Materials Science Institute of Madrid (ICMM), and the Materials Science Institute of Sevilla (ICMS). Other speakers were members of the Department of Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Sevilla, the Institute of Materials at the University of Santiago de Compostela, the University of Lyon INSA Lyon (France), and the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering of Punjab Engineering College (India).

A group of around 25 people had the opportunity to discuss very outstanding topics with the lecturers during the workshop and later during a relaxed lunch at the premises of University of Sevilla.
