ACerS is pleased to announce Amjad S. Almansour has been selected for Volunteer Spotlight, a program that recognizes a member who demonstrates outstanding service to The American Ceramic Society through volunteerism.
Almansour is a materials research engineer in the Ceramic and Polymer Composites Branch of the Materials and Structures Division at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He received a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Mu’tah University in Al-Karak, Jordan; an M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton, Ohio; and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Akron, Ohio.
At NASA Glenn, Almansour has made significant contributions in several research areas, including the design, processing, modeling, and characterization of ceramic matrix composites for advanced propulsion systems, lightweight composite conductors, high-power and energy-dense 3D-printed batteries, and battery thermal management systems. In recognition of his contributions, he has received the NASA Early Career Achievement Medal and the Engineers Council’s Future Technology Leader Award.
Amjad has been the lead organizer of several symposiums at the International Conference and Expo on Advanced Ceramics and Composites, the Pacific Rim Conference on Ceramic and Glass Technology, the 14th International Conference on Ceramic Materials and Components for Energy and Environmental Systems, and the National Space and Missile Materials Symposium. He has served as chair of the Award Committee and as secretary, treasurer, and vice-chair of the Engineering Ceramics Division. He is currently serving as chair-elect of ECD and program chair for ICACC 2025. He has received the ECD Global Young Investigator Award, Global Star Award, Richard M. Fulrath Award, and Global Ambassador Award.
