ACerS is pleased to announce that Emmanuel Maillet has been selected for Volunteer Spotlight, a program through which we recognize a member who demonstrates outstanding service to The American Ceramic Society through volunteerism.
Maillet is the technology manager of the Materials Behavior Laboratory at GE Research in Niskayuna, N.Y. Maillet leads a team of engineers and scientists helping to develop the next generation of structural materials by enhancing the understanding of materials behavior throughout processing and service.
Since joining GE Research in 2015, Maillet has contributed to numerous projects supporting the industrialization of ceramic matrix composites (CMCs), including the development of test methods to characterize CMC durability and the development of microstructure-based models for CMC properties.
Before joining GE, Maillet was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Akron, Ohio, where he worked on health monitoring techniques for polymer and ceramic matrix composites. He received his M.S. in materials science and engineering, and mechanical engineering, from Arts et Métiers ParisTech in France in 2009, and his Ph.D. in materials science from the University of Lyon, France, in 2012.
An ACerS member since 2011, Maillet helped organize numerous symposia for the ICACC conference series and was a coorganizer of the 2020 ACerS Winter Workshop.
We extend our deep appreciation to Maillet for his service to our Society!
