ACerS is pleased to announce that Fred Stover has been selected for Volunteer Spotlight, a program through which we recognize a member who demonstrates outstanding service to The American Ceramic Society through volunteerism.

Stover is an experienced salesman in refractories (kiln furniture), as well as ceramic and abrasive raw materials. As an entrepreneur, he started several companies over the years. He has been the chief ceramic engineer and lab director of what is now Ceradyne, a 3M company in Georgia, and he cofounded Applied Ceramics, also in Georgia, in 1967. For the last 35 years, he was CEO of Matrix Enterprises, a representative and distributor of ceramic raw materials.

Stover is currently the treasurer of the Michigan/Northwest Ohio Section of ACerS. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Georgia Tech School of Materials Science and Engineering in 2002. Additionally, Stover was named a Fellow of The American Ceramic Society in 2012.

We extend our deep appreciation to Stover for his service to our Society!
