ACerS is pleased to announce Yang Bai has been selected for Volunteer Spotlight, a program that recognizes a member who demonstrates outstanding service to The American Ceramic Society through volunteerism.
Bai is a tenure-track associate professor in the Microelectronics Research Unit at the University of Oulu, Finland. He received his bachelor’s degree in materials science and engineering from Tianjin University, China, and his Ph.D. from the University of Birmingham, U.K. He worked as a researcher at the Central European Institute of Technology in Brno, Czech Republic, before receiving the European Union’s prestigious Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship, which led him to move to the University of Oulu.
Bai’s research interests include energy harvesting technologies and sustainable microelectronics, with focuses on photoferroelectrics, piezoelectrics, self-sufficient Internet of Things systems, and recycling of hazardous piezoelectric ceramics. He has been granted five patents worldwide for research in these areas.
Bai is a lifetime member of ACerS, and currently he is chair of the Energy Materials and Systems Division.
