Making better magnets: Friction stir consolidation enables single-step, energy-efficient densification of brittle magnetic particles

Magnet production is a complex, time-consuming process. Researchers from North Carolina State University and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory showed that the solid-phase manufacturing technique called friction stir consolidation can be used to create magnets in a single-step, energy-efficient process.
