Frontiers of Ceramics & Glass Webinar Series: Rheometer Testing to Evaluate Extrusion Behavior

Hosted by the Structural Clay Products Division, this webinar is presented by Prof. John Sanders of Clemson University. Capillary rheometry is a useful tool in characterizing the extrusion behavior of traditional ceramic materials used for making structural ceramics. In this study, four raw materials were characterized and compared against a known raw materials that extrudes well. A full rheometric study consisting of six extrusion velocities for three different die sizes, at three moisture contents per material were carried out.

Video: Filtration—another way to lactose-free milk

Lactose-free milk usually is created is by adding the enzyme lactase to regular milk—but filtration is another possible method that is gaining more attention. Researchers in Japan and Mexico developed new graphene oxide membranes that appear to filter lactose out of milk better than current commercial membranes.
