This award recognizes a single outstanding technical achievement made by an ACerS Corporate Partner in the field of ceramics. The achievement must show significant technical merit and represent a gain to society through commercialization of the technology within the preceding eight years. Through this award, the Society recognizes Corporate Partners who have taken technology and successfully developed it into a viable commercial product; joint nominations are allowed.
The award is presented to one or more companies for a single product or product line that represents a ceramic-focused technical achievement that led to significant societal benefit. Through this award, the Society recognizes Corporate Partners who have taken technology and successfully developed it into a viable commercial product. It is not necessary for technical and commercial development to be accomplished by one company, and joint nominations can be submitted. Up to two awards may be made each year.
The award is formally presented to a designated corporate representative at the Annual Meeting banquet. A full-page feature may be included in the Bulletin
Nomination Process
Nominations are typically submitted by a representative of the company who product is being recognized; this person’s role within the company is not important.
The nomination consists of a 1 page nomination letter that describes the technical achievement and societal impact. It is recommended that the letter include a sentence very similar to:
The technical achievement being nominated is ____<fill in the product, brand, or product line>____ developed by ___<company name(s)>___ and the benefits are ___<benefits>___. This product, brand or product line has been manufactured and sold since ___<year>___ .
Supplemental information is allowed but not required.
Up to two awards may be conferred each year. Active nominations will be considered for 4 years from the initial submission and may be updated each year.
