PRCO America Inc. opens plant in Mayfield, Kentucky

PRCO America Inc. began production at their new plant near Mayfield, Ky., on August 25, 2022.  The plant will produce resin bonded magnesia-carbon, resin bonded magnesia-alumina-carbon, and resin bonded alumina refractory ceramic shapes, used to line steel processing furnaces and contain molten metal at over 3,000°F.

Vitro to build two glass factories in Egypt

Vitro Architectural Glass plans to expand into Egypt and invest $400 million to build two factories, according to an official statement released by the Egyptian Cabinet. Vitro has not yet confirmed the news.

HORN to construct third glass manufacturing facility for Ambev

Ambev contracted HORN to build the new container glass plant in Carambeí, Paraná state in Brazil. The 400 tpd regenerative furnace with 3 forehearths will produce container bottles in colors flint, amber, and green.

Chilean utility Colbún submits plans for co-located 1.2 GWh BESS at solar PV plant

Chilean utility Colbún submitted plans for a solar-plus-storage project in the commune of Camarones. The solar photovoltaic portion of the project will comprise 700,000 bifacial modules totaling 421.9 MW of power. The attached energy storage will be a 240-MW, five-hour battery energy storage system, meaning a total capacity of 1,200 MWh.

Carbon acquires ParaMatters to expand design software optimized for AM

Carbon, a leading 3D printing technology company, announced the acquisition of ParaMatters, a software provider for additive manufacturing. This acquisition expands Carbon’s current software capabilities to include topology optimization.

BM Group of Companies acquires Sanderson Concrete

The BM Group of Companies announced its acquisition of Sanderson Concrete Inc., adding to its portfolio of construction, project management, material supply, and land development companies. According to BM, the acquisition of Sanderson will allow for an expansion of its product offerings in the precast industry.

Al Maha Ceramics acquires 45% stake in Al Hael Ceramics

Al Maha Ceramics Company announced the acquisition of a 45% stake in Al Hael Ceramics Company. Al Maha Ceramics is one of the largest ceramic tiles manufacturers in Oman, while Al Hael Ceramics is the largest manufacturer of tiles and porcelain in Oman.
